The front cover of my magazine is going to have to have a running house style, house style is important to any magazine this is because it means the magazine has a running consistency of colour, and that means that you can tell that it all belongs to the same company or in this case magazine. Using a certain colour theme creates house style and by creating it people can recognise the brand more and begin to trust the magazine more as it doesn’t change and looks professional. My magazine will have a running house style because I want it to look professional and trustworthy to the public so that people will make a relationship with the product and make it a continuous product to buy. The house style will run throughout the magazine and it will all relate to each other and the logo, it is important that the house style relates to the logo because it makes you know that the pages belong to the brand which makes the brand and logo more noticeable to the public. I have not chosen the colours for my magazine yet but when I do I want at the most three colours however I like the idea of using two, the colours will be bright so that they are noticeable to an audience and make the magazine look fun however not to fun because it is a college magazine and needs to look sophisticated for the target audience and by using to many bright fun colours will make the magazine look childish and tacky.

The dominant image on the page will be the model, I am going to use a medium close up which will capture from her shoulders above I am using this shot because I want direct contact with the audience and by showing the models facial expressions up close will create a relationship between the public and the model, the models eyes will be looking straight into the camera this is so that she grabs eye contact with the public creating a relationship and making them want to know her story. Because she is the main image on the page she will be the main story. I am not sure on my main story just yet but I know that it will be across the shoulders of the model to stand out and make sure people know it relates to the model. I also want to use a quote from the main story to give people a teaser and make them want to purchase the magazine and read it.

The title will be short and snappy so that it is memorable, and sticks to the public’s mind , it will be main on the page because I want people to be able to see it and remember the name so they buy it in the future.

The thumbnail images will be along the left hand side neatly organised and structures this is because it’s a sophisticated college magazine not a celeb gossip mag.  It will be images of things that have happened around the college for example drama productions or awards and achievements. This is to give people a teaser and make them want to read it.

The price of the magazine will be around £3 it will be expensive as it will be printed on quality paper to emphasise that the college is top quality and the place to be and achieve. It is expensive because it is targeted at intelligent students and teachers.

My magazine will be different to other publishers magazines as it will be unique by targeting both the teachers and the students I will do this by adding stories that appeal to both students and teachers for example a drama production open to all public or a charity fund raiser needing help from both teachers and students. Something my magazine will have in common to others is the way it is presented, in a sophisticated professional way.

I want the magazine to give out a positive attitude to the students and teachers, this is because I want the college to look friendly and welcoming this is so that people are invited into reading the magazine. If the magazine looks friendly and positive it also makes it look a trustworthy brand meaning they are likely to purchase the magazine again.

My target audience is students and teachers at Wyke so the magazine will be aimed at 16+ so it’s a big range of ages it is aimed at both boys and girls so my magazine has to be something unique to be able to grab the targeted audience.

R-

I want my magazine to be represented in a positive friendly way this is because if it is set out like that then it will reflect on what people think of the college. If it is represented in a positive and friendly way it will also want students to apply here and it will also make current students feel as though they have been noticed by publishing there rewards in the magazine.
